RETINA EXAMINATION

A retinal examination also called as opthalmoscopy or funduscopy allows the doctor to evaluate the back of the patient’s eye including the retina, optic disk and the underlying layer of blood vessels that nourish the retina. The pupils are usually dilated with eyedrops which keep the pupil from getting smaller when light is shone on the eye.
